| Dr. Metropol is a native of South
Carolina, born in Winnsboro and reared in
Orangeburg. Dr. M has been married for nineteen
years to her husband John H. Metropol of Columbia,where they reside with their three children.
She is a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox
Church.
She received her Baccalaureate degree from
the University of Alabama at Birmingham in
1981. She worked at the Virology Institute
at UAB and co-authored two research papers
with Dr. David H.L. Bishop. Dr. Metropol
continued her training in Oxford University at
Sir William Dunn School of Pathology in
Recombinant DNA Technology for synthetic
cloning.
Graduate studies at Medical University of SC
in Charleston led to her DMD degree in the
College of Dental Medicine in 1989.
Dr. Metropol practiced for two and a half
years in Manning, South Carolina before coming
to Columbia in 1991.
She is a member of the ADA and the AGD. She
has held membership in the Academy of Sports
Dentistry and the Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry. She has enjoyed sponsoring
the Columbia Inferno Hockey Team and a local
fire department rugby team and her
children's sports teams. Along with many
other active and retired dentists, she
volunteers at the local Health Department Dental
Clinic. Dr. Metropol serves as a board member of
Palmetto Richland Children's Hospital.
Dr. Metropol participates in continuing
education in cosmetic and general dentistry so
she can continue to provide her patients with
the most up to date and best care possible.
